CRANFORD, NJ (May 28, 2015) – Guy Adami has been named the winner of this year’s Man & Woman of the Year of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) New Jersey Chapter.
Guy Adami, along with the Woman of the Year and two runners up, collectively raised over $450,000 to support LLS’s mission to find a cure for blood cancers and ensure that patients have access to life saving treatments.
During a spirited ten-week fundraising period beginning with a kickoff celebration, candidates across the country compete in honor of a local boy or girl who is a blood cancer survivor to raise the most funds for a world without blood cancers. Candidates and their campaign teams are judged solely on their success in raising money, each dollar counting as one vote. Their totals are then considered for the national title. Candidates in each chapter vie for the local title, and the highest fundraisers nationally earn the title of national Man & Woman of the Year. The national titles will be awarded to the top fundraisers in the country, to be announced this summer.
Guy Adami is the Director of Advisor Advocacy at Private Advisor Group in Morristown, as well as an original member of CNBC’s Fast Money. His contribution to this endeavor was consistent with the annual theme of Private Advisor Group’s conference this year, Making a Difference.
“We are proud to have someone like Guy on our team. We advocate doing for others and this is just one more example of how we can make a difference in the lives of others,” said Pat Sullivan, Managing Director of Private Advisor Group. “This particular organization is special to us since my business partner, John Hyland, is a Leukemia survivor and still battling the disease.”
“Congratulations to our winners, and to all of our candidates and campaign team members who participated in this year’s campaign,” said Stacey Weathers, Executive Director of the New Jersey Chapter. “They are all passionate and determined individuals, and leaders in their communities. Their efforts really go far in bringing help and hope to patients and their families.”
